Axis Awarded

Axis rewarded for his work

Axis puts a foot in the technology

For the «2018 6th singapore international 3d printing competitions» Axis realized an electric skateboard to answer the contest on the theme: «personal mobility vehicles». This request was made because in Singapore traffic is complex. That’s why the organizers of this competition wanted candidates to work on an individual mode of transport. This increasingly popular mode of transport has been the source of many innovations and has brought to the market a range of devices adapted to all the whims and needs, from electric scooters to electric wheelchairs. Axis then wanted to offer his electric skateboard.

Following all our efforts, we are happy to announce that for the second time, Axis has been awarded the «2018 6th Singapore International 3D Printing Competitions» with our electrical project entirely designed and realized by us.

Axis explains his project

On the composition side, several layers symbolize the superposition of layers during 3D printing. The openings at the ends leave the possibility of inlay stop lights, which can also illuminate the top of the board by the transparent elements.

Through this object Axis wanted to introduce you to the different possibilities offered by 3D printing (technologies, materials, colors, finishes, …).

The pattern of the top of the board that brings lightness, allows you to present a wide range of finishes: glossy, satin, grained, transparent, metallic. The bottom of the board made with the latest HP Multi Jet Fusion process is colored black. Axis chose to chromise two diamonds at the ends of the skate surface as an ornament. These shapes reflect the light and the surrounding elements of the skateboarder. Blue elastomer elements produced by Vacuum Casting give good adhesion. Finally Stereolithography is present in different aspects on the rest of the board (Clearvue resin for transparency, Accura 25 resin for all small elements, and our new Taurus resistant resin that makes up most of the skate top).

Regarding the decor of the board, Axis decided to take inspiration from Scandinavian design to hide «AXIS» in a trendy, refined and subtle way. Two big blue arrows stand out by our colorimetric identity. These bring dynamism and indicate the location of the feet.
