Axis has been a specialist in rapid prototyping for over 20 years. Since its creation, the will of our company is to collaborate in the realization of projects whatever the industrial sector in which our customers are.
Rapid prototyping is a very important step for the validation of projects that will later be launched in large-scale production and therefore industrialized. Our core business is to support the production of prototypes to validate the products that will end up on sale a few months or years later. Since we do not have a design office, we are not able to create 3D files, but we have several machines and materials allowing you to produce your prototypes. It is therefore necessary to send us 3D files in the following formats: GES, .STEP, .STL or .CatPart.
Stereolithography is a 3D printing technique that works by a photo-polymerization process of a liquid resin which solidifies using a laser per layer of 0.10 to 0.15 mm.
This technology is suitable for producing finalized models to validate the size and geometry of parts, but also the aesthetic aspect of a project. For this additive manufacturing process, we have 9 machines, but also 9 different resins according to the desired characteristics: Clearvue resin will rather be preferred to produce transparent parts, HPC resin for prototypes having to have a high heat resistance or the Next resin, which is very close to the technical characteristics of a thermoplastic. Do not hesitate to consult our page dedicated to different subjects to find out more. This printing technology makes it possible to produce parts within a few days, except in the case of major finishing or large quantities.
The selective laser sintering or powder sintering allows for him to get more technical parts to have good mechanical properties.
This 3D printing method works by agglomerating 0.10 mm layers of polyamide particles using a laser. This laser strikes a powder carpet only in the places necessary for the manufacture of the part. After production, the assembly must be allowed to cool, then an operator must powder the pieces of the production «cake». On this technology, we have 3 machines with two materials which are PA12 sintering and glass loaded sintering.
We also use the Multi Jet Fusion HP to make parts in PA 12 sintering, but in a 0.8 mm layer. Instead of a laser, there are arms which deposit contour and fusion agents on the powder to create the shape of the pieces. As with conventional powder sintering, we have to wait to powder the parts produced. For this type of prototyping, it usually takes a few working days to produce the parts. The design time can be increased depending on the finish or the quantity of parts to be produced.
Vacuum casting allows you to make parts in small series. We use stereolithography to design a master model which then makes it possible to create a silicone mold in which the polyurethane parts will be produced and solidified in specific machines.
This additive manufacturing process allows parts to be produced in small series, while also making it possible to have materials approaching so-called injection materials. Indeed, the casting process is done through the mixture of different liquid components which allow to create the final material of the prototypes. We can color this material to get the color you want. For a large part of the materials, the silicone molds make it possible to produce series of around twenty pieces. We keep the molds for 4 to 6 months in our premises and the molds cannot produce more parts than indicated on our price offers. For this additive manufacturing process, the production times are a little longer since we have to produce the tools to cast the polyurethane parts.
To obtain the most realistic prototypes possible, we have a team of modelers / model makers who apply all the finishes according to your specifications. Indeed, we have several paint booths which allow us to give the parts made in 3D printing the appearance of a serial part.
We have the technical capacity to paint your parts according to the RAL, Pantone or sample swatches supplied with matte, glossy, chrome or satin finish. We can also make a more true-to-life metallization on your parts in stereolithography thanks to the Jet Metal process, put colored varnishes on transparent parts made in Clearvue Stereolithography as well as add a VDI type graining to bring texture to the prototyped parts. In addition to the finishes relating to the color of the parts, we can carry out other more technical finishes such as the installation of inserts, the assembly of your prototype, the installation of transfers, the heat treatment, the epoxy impregnation etc …
In conclusion, we have the possibility of producing the parts from start to finish from the moment when you are able to provide us with 3D files as well as precise specifications. If you wish to consult us for the realization of your models in 3D printing do not hesitate to contact us!
